I’ve used MS Streets & Trips too. I found too many streets that it couldn’t find in my area. It’s also a couple of years out of date on it’s hotel data. Took a trip to South Carolina last fall and the hotel I was booked into had moved two years before and the MS map was wrong .

I use the Delorme Earthmate - the GPS unit plugs into my laptop and guides me to my destinations. It shows exactly where I am and how far ‘off course’ I am. It will plot the quickest route or the shortest route but they aren’t always correct. The map on the laptop moves and changes as the car moves - a neat product but a little more distracting than a cell phone.
DeLorme includes Street Atlas USA 2004 software with the $129.95 Earthmate.
