Type 1 or Type 2 surge protector?

Says “secondary surge protector” does “secondary” mean it’s type 2? Thanks in advance!

No!

Those were originally installed as a Type 1 but these units preceeded the Type 1 or Type 2 classifications that are in the NEC today.

I found this surge protector connected to the main lugs. Would you consider this a double tap, or would it be acceptable due to being grandfathered in?

It was never code compliant to double tap the terminals that are listed for only a single conductor.
