I just cant figure out why my pictures are coming out like that do you know why? anyway , it is a picture of a water heater ducting and it has some form of white like acidy powder stuff around the where the joints are connected . any idea it is about 16 yrs old.I will try again

Your picture was fine. I just never knew that people stored their bicycles next to the water heater flue.

If I remember the picture right it looked like the metal flue joints were connected wrong.(against the flow)

The white powder is a soot created by the environment of unburnt gases, condensation, air. You can see this in furnaces also. Visible in the 70%'ers.

On the water heater post replied to saying unburned gas was the white stuff around the flue pipe is this a concern or can it be avoided?
