Well obviously you guys don’t understand the certification. It is made me tens of thousands of dollars being a certified master inspector… I can say Most assuredly to that . Just think master plumber, master electrician.
No one gives you this certification you have to be vetted.
If you don’t have the credentials then you don’t get it
I couldn’t have said it better!
I did check out your website and you do have the CMI logo all over your page and a video as to why to hire a Why hire a CMI??.
When I searched North Florida Home Inspection on Bing, I found 1stproinspection.com at the bottom of page 4. When I search North Florida Home Inspection on Google, I found you on the top of page 6.
My question was, What would you say the main benefit of getting the CMI?
If it is marketing; how has it helped you and what return have you had on your investment?
I still want to know what you think the benefit of CMI is?
You are number 3 on the InterNACHI inspector search for Hinckley, your website shows up on the bottom of page two for, Home Inspections in Hinckley, OH on Google, and on the bottom of page 3 for bing. On the Bing map you show up #1 for your proximity to Hinckley.
What benefit do you feel you have received from the CMI certification and why should I and many others get ours.
If I Google Certified Master Inspectors in Deltona it brings up regular home inspectors. I am on the top of the list for Google. What I would like to know is, Why should I spend my money to get this Certification?
That is a really good question. For me, it’s another credential that helps separate me from the pack, especially when I am on the phone and the client basically asks “Why should I use you?”
I think others may market it harder on website, literature etc. I have not been able to or even tried to quantify the ROI. But, I do know it helps “close the deal” along with many other soft skills required when speaking with a potential customer.
Hi Frank,
If your busy or routinely getting a steady stream of appointments, it might not add much value.
Dom.
Thanks Brian
You would think they would market it harder or give you an advantage. I did not find you on the Inspector look up for Atlanta but did find Ray 9th from the bottom of the list and no indication of CMI. I did see the website has several references to it. InterNACHI certified home inspector in Atlanta GA
Your thoughts don’t mean nothing to me . Realy. And you scoured my website.
If I had to rely on Internet or generic searched I would have made nothing.
What I gather you have not been doing very good on your marketing. CMI Is not gonna put you on top.
It’s how you portray the designation with
Realtors And others where you see your income path
CMI alone is not designed for SEO or to improve your website page ranking.
Hi Frank,
You’re conflating SEO (Search Engine Optimization) with inspector qualifications, apples and oranges.
If someone is looking for an Electrician to wire the playroom in their house where their kids play, or to re-wire the light in their pool because it keeps tripping the breaker, they most likely would hire a Master Electrician before they would hire a regular Electrician, at least I would.
CMI is not only a qualification to be obtained, but also an excellent marketing tool that makes you stand out over your competition.
I can be done with mostly taking course work.
I personally meet all the requirements except for having a couple of grand to blow.
There seems to be a little confusion on CMI credentials.
In the state of Florida, I have to be a master electrician to get my electrical contractor’s license. An electrician must work under an electrical contractor’s license. If you are a home inspector, you can be licensed in the state without being a CMI.
What I am saying is that no one seems recognizes the CMI, not even Nachi. There is no benefit on the search engines, even the InterNACHI’s Inspector Lookup does not prioritize CMI’s over CPI’s.
Hi Roy
I did not mean to offend you. I was just replying to your comment and seeking a reason why I should get the CMI this year. I simply followed the link on your signature to see what you were raving about. I then searched on Google and Bing for North Florida Home Inspections.
Everything I do is to the benefit of my company. If I do not see the benefit, I am not going to waste the resources. As for our marketing, we are #1 on the first page of Google and Bing for Deltona Home Inspections, and on the first page for our county, and surrounding cities. We stopped marketing to realtors 10 years ago. We have many realtors that recommend us, but it is because we are thorough, and they want the best for their clients.
I wish you all the best Roy and good luck with your marketing.
CMI designation is not for you. You’ll never benefit from it from a marketing or SEO perspective because you’ve topped all the charts. Customers come to you because of your pristine reputation and you don’t need new realtors. Keep the money and keep smiling.
A few comments support your assertion.
In my experience of having the CMI designation for about a year now there are customers who know more than you might think about this industry. The ones that do know only hire CMIs and won’t talk to inspectors that are not CMIs. I had that happen multiple times before I got the designation. Customer calls, first ? they ask: Are you a CMI? Before I had it, I could not close those customers. Zero chance. They were educated about the industry and knew the CMI came with a certain level of experience. To me, the CMI opens you up to a larger pool of educated buyers who demand the best. Totally worth the money in my experience. Once you have it, you get significantly less questions about your experience when being interviewed on the phone. It puts you up against many less competitors also. Very few CMIs in each market. Instead of being up against 200 inspectors, now you’re only up against 10-30. Big difference. I have closed multiple buyers on the CMI status alone. It’s a good investment in your business.
I agree with what Roy, Brian, Ryan and Kevin said. For me, it was an excellent investment in my business as it sets me apart from most of my competition.
