Saw this black supply plumbing piping in multiple locations throughout this manufactured home. Wasn’t sure if it was polybutylene or PEX.
Thank you.
What did the markings say??
Like Jeff said you need to post any identification marks on the pipe. My guess is it’s polyethylene pipe.
@mwilles in your opinion, are those gray connectors considered PB?
Yes the gray fittings do look like polybutylene.
Many older mobile or manufactured homes around here have black poly-b instead of gray.
You’ve got quite an assortment of materials there …
I found a couple of images and articles that support this. I do not inspect many mobile homes.
And I think these are PB repair fittings.
I would refer it out to a plumber.
It was mix and match plumbing day at the local big box store…
Here’s a few shots from some mobile crawlspace’s with the black poly.
Without a doubt, unprofessional plumbing configurations. The grey connections are most definitely Quest polybutylene. Recommend having a licensed plumber further evaluate and repair/replace as needed.
*it’s Qest not Quest, sorry auto correct. Phone trying to be smart again.
Thank you everyone for taking the time to make responses on the subject. I took some pictures of the writing/markings on the pipe to maybe help identification. Also here is a picture under the kitchen sink where I saw grey PB. I originally put PB in the report and received a call from someone representing the client saying the black piping was PEX.
CSA B137.8 says so right on it, it’s a PB pipe from 1990s. Of course the “expert” is going to say it’s PEX! Can you imagine having to repipe the entire house? $$$
Thank you Simon.
