I think I go back just a little further then Charlie.
In my area Toronto southern Ontario when I started the trade November 1951.
We had 25 cycle electricity ,WOW fluorescent lamps show showed cycle flicker then .
We called the supply 110/220 single phase and 208/ 550 three phase .
this was later called 120/240 and 208/600 volts .
The only place is the auto plants that where 400 three phase later called 440 three phase is used , all industry her uses 208/600 volts .
the change over from 25 cycle to 60 cycle was completed in about 1952 .
I think all generators were sold to India I have no idea what their system is now
