Down here in Mississippi, if you anit wearing Red Head (Bass Pro Shop) or Carhartt you just don’t fit in.
Good durable clothes at a fair price and easy to obtain.
The problem with shorts is crawling through attics and slipping in and out of bushes and tall grasses.
However I generally wear cargo shorts anyway. So #3 for me but #5 in cool or cold weather.
I was thinking of a change of uniform , I think this would be a good look for me
What do you think .

I never wore shorts until I found out how cool they are when it is 100 plus outside. I actually discovered this in Disney World (a sweat box in July). They are the only way to survive the heat in Texas. When I am done I look rode hard and put up wet. Sometimes I have to change my shirt before the wrap up because I got so dirty and wet. I inspect multi million dollar homes like this all the time. The client recognizes how hard you are working. In the end my image is my experience and ability to communicate.
I did not see the picture link before posting. I am 5 or 6. Got white oxford shirts [WallMart $13] Dickies black cargo pants [WallMart $21] Sturdy pair of Dockers rough tread shoes. Look pretty pro. If the shirt is clean at the end of the inspection then you can talk. Also do Draw inspections and found a Black baseball hat with “BANK” in white letters on the front and my name on the back lets everyone know why I am taking pictures. Hard hat if the boards are still flying from the roof.

I was out last summer on the lake with my boat alot. On a Saturday morning as I was filling up boat with gas and cooler with ice. I received a call for a 4 point inspection. The owner was in town and was only able to do it that day. I explained I was not in work attire, He didnt care and was in a hurry. As I pulled up with my boat attached and wearing a tank top and swimming shorts and flip flops. The client was happy and I had some extra spending money for the day. I then did 2 more 4 points in the future for him on other homes he owned. He was more glad that I would take time out of my day from relaxing to help him out. The things we do !

Five or six. Jeans are starched and pressed with a golf shirt with company name in the warmer months. The winter months same starched jeans with long sleeve oxford shirt with company name. No shorts even when hot as hell…
Polo shirt, Jeans, and tennis shoes.
#6 Always were long sleeves when inspecting even in summer.
Here in Florida shorts are a must in the spring and summer, # 3.
OOOOOHHHHHH! Now I get it, I wondered why the realtors were all fighting over who gets to hold the ladder while I inspect the roof in my kilt.

Bib overalls; sleeveless gym type shirt; engineers work boots; bandana tied around forehead to keep sweat out of eyes; and tennis band on wrist to wipe sweat off with or blow nose on so I don’t have to carry an expensive ($1-$2) handkerchief.
Wanta look like a worker NOT one of them sissy boys in penny loafers, shorts and monogramed polo shirts.
Over the past 32 Yrs in my dress for business look, I’ve done 3 state governors in 3 different states, 2 presidential candidates in different states, several US or state legislators, several major league sports figures, several multi-gigilionaire CEO’s with national big-boy companies, etc.
If it works for them - Who am I to try and change it.

I wear clean jeans and a polo usually and always an ball cap. When ever I talk about inspection equipment I use, I explain the hat is part of my equipment with crawling into everything I do to inspect Ilike to have prtection for my head.
That picture I have on my profile is not what I wear to an inspection.
Clean blue jeans, white or tan polo with embroidered logo, lace up leather shoes although I really need a pair of slip-ons. For crawls - long sleeve coveralls, head cover and a respirator (cartridge or N95 depending on how bad the crawl is). Tape up the ankles and wrists and zip it up tight. No need for a change of clothes that way. I always bring a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, first aid kit. Never know when these will come in handy.
