100% agree Marc. Open porches that are not structurally attached.
But #5 says even if it’s attached it’s not counted because it’s not enclosed and only to the wall (in this case). It also doesn’t say structurally, only attached. Thoughts?
I realize this is just your friends house and its just a for kicks. This subject has been talked about in several threads here and this is a big gray area. If you take the Nachi course on wind mitigation you will find that information in it. It clearly states that you are to include roofs that are structurally attached and not to include roofs that are not structurally attached (for example, metal pan patio roofs or roofs that are attached to the wall or fascia only).
The ‘Structural Attachment’ language comes from the previous 2010 form. They just took the wording out, but the original intent is still the same.
