I would like to offer wood destroying insect inspection as an extra service for my home inspection clients. I think that may I need a state certification or license. Does anyone know where I can find requirements for this? Thanks

In New York State, You need to be certified as a commercial pesticide tech. This is through the NYS DEC. (Dept. of Conservation) Check for the PA equivalent. Good Luck.

Greg,

You do have to be certified in Pa to do wood destroying pest inspections. I also know that NY and Pa are reciprocal but it cost 500.00 do get the certification. Here in NY it cost just as much to get the original then you have to have 3 years under a Certified Applicator now. Just changed in the past two years.

Thanks Rick. I would like to be a “one stop” type service, but they sure don’t make it easy.
