I 2nd that nomination. Wow.
What’s the date on the new water heater? Could it be a replacement for a failed power vent unit in the same location?
Maybe there’s a cost to having workers with no license, no insurance, no money, and only on the job training building all our houses?
That it didn’t roach that water line during the process of nearly burning down the home is also a miracle.
Holy cow
I 3rd that nomination! Holy crap
- No it wasn’t a replacement just a fubar. There was about 12 ft of vent pipe running to the chimney flue. And it was a combination of PVC and Metal.
It was the same crew that had a 60 amp breaker with 8 gauge wiring connected to the clothes dryer receptacle.
I need 6 pieces of wire of various lengths, 7 wire nuts, some electrical tape for good measure, and I’ll get that light working.
Michael Keaton did that when he was adding on a whole new wing.
There’s an additional defect then.
The brick chimney is so massive, there’s no way it can properly heat up given the relatively puny gas burner of the water heater. Thus, the chimney flue won’t draft properly: at least not reliably. A cold day and water has not been used in a while, the flue gases hit that cold ceramic or brick, cool down, and drop right back down.
The water heater vendor instructions, in both Spanish and English, likely specify the flue requirements. And brick chimneys don’t count.
Shockingly the pipe was tight. I figured it’d just be floppy and loose…it wasn’t Someone put this up there and snugged it down.
The drip pan snorkel is still in beta testing.
Prevents gurgling as the tank exsanguinates its life blood.
One of those inspections where you get there and realize that you didn’t charge enough.
