We don’t own or control the domain, we prefer you keep ownership of that (unlike some agencies who do want to own the domain to hold you hostage, I don’t like that dynamic). So we just help you point the domain to our servers to host the site.
Should you ever want to move the site to be hosted elsewhere, we give you everything you need to do that.
We produce a PDF for every report and have a personal Google Drive integration so you can back up to your personal cloud.
We do have an export to csv, as well as import to create templates from spreadsheets! Write into our chat and ask and they’ll point you in the right direction.
This has been discussed in the past and is still being considered! Although, the case against it is most clients/agents answered in surveys that they prefer to access reports quickly via an email/text.
Have you considered Android devices? They tend to be far more affordable than Apple products. We simply have not had enough demand (as is the case with many softwares) to create a Microsoft app. But you can run Android apps on a Surface Pro using emulators!
I hear you on most SaaS platforms trying to lock you in. That’s why we make it easy to export templates, websites and any of your data. We’d rather earn and keep your business vs. hold it hostage. This is the beauty of SaaS - we’re incentivized to keep your business each month/year…or you’ll leave!
I know I’m biased, but I also pride myself on being a straight shooter and objective. We’ve been around 7 years and have over 8k inspectors that know, love and trust us. We fully plan to stay the leading innovator and provider in the industry for decades to come. I hope this comes off as earnest as I feel writing it!
You may find that the iPhone is a much better tool for inspections than the Surface tablet. That is a big device to be hauling around into attics and crawls and what not. I doubt you would have much issue running Spectora on your older iPhone. I run it on an older cheap Motorola Android and have zero issues.
I have been using Spectora since I started so if you have any issues/questions/concerns, don’t hesitate to send them my way as well as posting them here!
I have just discovered your truth concerning the tablet… way too big and cumbersome… and it doesn’t even take good photos
Guess I’ll be moving to an android soon… Samsung A13 is the leading contender so far. Being out in a very rural area (44 miles to nearest Walmart and 72 miles to nearest Home Depot, BestBuy or any other big box store), that whole 5g thing isn’t gonna work for me, not to mention I don’t trust it.
(Incidentally, I’ve owned 3 iPhones now and I will NEVER own another one!)
I just wish they had a plugin or add-on that I could upload to MY website (wordpress based) and submit my reports to MY website instead of getting locked in to a subscription service. It’s ALWAYS more expensive as a subscription - ALWAYS!
You can always make a pdf of the report and email that to your client, or host it yourself somewhere for them to access online. But just for clarification, the subscription is for everything, including the report-writer. So even if you decide to email/host your own reports, you would still have to pay for the subscription.
I use HIP reporting software and HIP Office. I’m very pleased with it. I’ve tied a couple others.
I’ve heard good things about Spectora. But, I’ve heard it is expensive.
I started another thread asking questions along these lines, but I’ll respond with the question your comment brought up for me… Does HIP REQUIRE the cloud to work, or can it be standalone?
Remember though, that those of us who purchased the original Desktop version ONLY never had to deal with any of this! My reports are created and delivered by me in PDF from my computer. There is NEVER any connection to HIP except for the occasional updates/upgrades that I haven’t taken advantage of in over 4-5 years, since most of it all is for Mobile/Cloud based functionality. The Desktop version is as stable as it will ever be, and I don’t need/want any of that crap everybody else has to make up for their own short-comings!!
Go ahead, laugh it up, because I LMFAO every year with the savings to my bank account in excess of the $1,000.00++ that your Cloud based Subscription costs you.
It looks like HIP no longer offers a one-time buy option for new customers? I called it a while back that all reporting software will eventually be subscription based. It is inevitable for a multitude of reasons.
