I’m looking for assistance in the RI surrounding area to obtain inspections/ride along from a willing mentor inspector.
I require a list of 100 inspections for the state of Rhode Island to issue my license. I was originally told by the licensing office that because I had been a contractor in good standings for over so many years I need only pass the national exam, create my LLC and acquire certificate of insurance.
During the last year while I was building my future the state changed the rules in the middle of the game. Now I have a marketed, legal, insured business with but no way to operate without this list. So far I have had no response from listed mentors or other inspectors from around but outside my sales area. Please advise.
You might try to contact some CMIs or CPIs within 40 to 50 miles, or closer, to your area and communicate with them. Maybe one, or more, will help you. Some inspectors feel as though they are training their competition by ride-alongs or mentoring or hiring.
Hello Greg. VA just started the same type of rule here and folks are struggling to get their ride alongs. When I was starting up VA went from a voluntary certification to a mandatory licensing program. I did not have enough inspections under my belt but I had a bunch of extra hours of course work logged. I simply wrote a letter to the state licensing board and asked for a wavier. I also sent proof of all the courses l had taken. They granted my waiver and my license. Might want to give it a shot. Good luck.
Walter thanks for the helpful direction. Its great to hear you made it through an alternate route. Ill need all the positivity I can get to get over state hurtles.
