$350 billion spent on Ukraine War. 350 million Americans. Let's do the math

There are a 1,000 millions in a billion. That means the war cost every American (man, woman, child) a thousand bucks a piece.

It’s actually $180 billion as of today. Still a good chunk of money/equipment.

Much of the equipment was obsolete by our standards and we were going to have to pay to dispose of it anyway.

Congress approved $183 billion.
Fact check $118 billion. Far from the $350 billion Trump rambles about.

Trump is a Russian asset.

Thats $4000 for every household of 4 people. That’s a stupid amount of money as a percentage of our tax dollars.

That is a lot of money, but those numbers are way off, it’s more like $183 Billion, which is still a lot of money, but a far cry from $350 Billion, which is another Trump lie.

Ukraine Oversight

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Congress has appropriated or otherwise made available nearly $183 billion for Operation Atlantic Resolve and the broader Ukraine response. Additionally, the United States provided $20 billion in loans as part of the G7 nations extraordinary revenue acceleration loans initiative . The Special IG for OAR has collected funding data from all 14 Federal agencies that were authorized to receive funds through the Ukraine supplemental appropriation acts, including the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of State (State), and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Here’s another fun fact.

Fact Check: Does most U.S. aid to Ukraine go to U.S. companies and workers? | Econofact

Yes

Nearly 70% of the $175 billion in U.S. aid to Ukraine since Russia’s 2022 invasion was spent in the U.S. or on U.S. forces, according to a study by the American Enterprise Institute published in May 2024.

All those weapons that we sent to Ukraine are all made in American factories by American workers.

And that money is all lost. Anything you spend real human labor and real raw materials to build, only to blow up, costs us all. It’s worse than pissing money down a drain.

Do we celebrate blood money? I once heard war was good for the economy. But I doubt it is so if every dime comes off a printing press.

Where do you get that I’m celebrating anything by pointing out facts and the truth?

Using this logic every US Military base, every person in the military, and all those contractors that produce the bullets, the bombs, the tanks, the ships, the airplanes, etc. etc., are made with “blood money”. I strongly disagree with that logic.

The money spent on Ukraine is only because of Putin invading and pillaging a sovereign country, then raping and killing innocent men women and children, for nothing else than his desire to bring back the USSR.

I’m all for defending Ukraine against that tyranical POS, and IMO Biden failed to give them what they needed when they needed it. Now, Trump evidently wants to just give the entire country to Putin.

I would say it’s good if it’s your lively hood and local economy that depends upon the industries that makes and supports weapons of war.

That and if you believe in peace by strength, protecting our democracy and our way of life.

In saying that, I agree that we spend too much on the Military Industrial Complex, but that’s a subject that needs to be addressed through Congress, they’re the ones who decide what gets spent and where.

For example:
How much do military industrial complex contribute to the Texas economy? - Google Search

The military industrial complex in Texas contributes billions of dollars to the state economy each year. In 2024, Governor Greg Abbott announced that the military installations in Texas had an economic impact of $151.2 billion.

Explanation

  • The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts estimates the economic impact of each military installation in the state.
  • The economic impact includes direct and indirect jobs, economic output, gross domestic product, and disposable personal income.
  • The military installations in Texas support local businesses and create jobs in a variety of industries.
  • The military installations in Texas also play a vital role in strategic national defense.

Some of the military installations in Texas include:

  • Fort Bliss
  • Fort Hood
  • Goodfellow Air Force Base
  • Joint Base San Antonio
  • Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth
  • Naval Air Station Kingsville
  • Red River Army Depot
  • Sheppard Air Force Base
  • Corpus Christi Army Depot
  • Dyess Air Force Base

Peace through strength has morphed into something far more sinister and morally bankrupt, much like Congress, which is responsible for making these decisions.

I don’t disagree with that. That’s why I said this:

Those in congress care more about themselves and holding onto power than they do about us and the country.

Until the money is removed from our political system, the monster will only continue to grow.

I agree, but if Putin wouldn’t have invaded and pillaged a peaceful sovereign nation, and wasn’t responsible for the rape and murder of innocent men women and children, for nothing else than his desire to bring back the USSR, it wouldn’t be costing us all.

If we don’t stand for something, we stand for nothing.

The United States used to stand for good and stand up against evil. Now we find our dear leader standing with the axis of evil, Russia, North Korea and Iran.
