AC Refrigerant Lines are frozen and they are also buried. Is it ok to bury them? Is the burial contributing to the ice?
Yes you can bury. No, burial not contributing to icing.
Yes, burying is good.
No, that’s not good insulation, no that’s not protected from UV degradation. Yes insulation is important on refrigeration lines.
Yes it is, on the interior of a building where condensation can form and potentially cause damage.
Insulation on the suction line outside of the building doesn’t matter. If condensate drips off outside of the house, not important. It is inside where condensation on the suction line can drip off and promote a mold or worse issue, that good insulation is important.
Gotta say that I’ve never seen buried refrigerant lines.
Me either, we never did that when I used to install AC systems back in the day in Ohio and since I came here over a decade ago, not once… This is from a recent local inspection…
