ACE just gave InterNACHI $187,500 worth of $25 gift cards for members' clients.

Absolutely love this!

So are you inferring that we should “cap” membership at 10,000 again??? ;-)

They are awesome, aren’t they? I was totally shocked when I met them in person in Milwaukee a few years ago. Those who haven’t yet met them in person, have no idea what incredible guys these two are. I may give them a hard time here, from time to time, but they should know I am one of their staunchest supporters.

The site/page should be password protected, so not just anyone can access the discounts. Nick can track them that way.

IMO, the articles section of nachi.org should be protected this way, so your run-of-the-mill, basic ASHI inspector cannot access them.

Good idea, but here is our thinking: The inspection articles are SEO optimized and attract online consumers looking for information about specific inspection-related topics. That traffic directs a large percentage of them through the link (Find an Inspector icon) at the bottom of each article, which in turn feeds consumer traffic to members’ inspection business websites.

We need to keep them open-to consumers, and thus open to diploma mill ASHI members.

Even the French and Spanish versions of the inspection articles are pushing traffic to members’ inspection websites at rates that continue to increase: www.nachi.org/inspection-leads.htm We’re now generating a click-thru to a members site every 1.67 minutes (1.77 million since November of 2009).

That’s all good and well if the thieves just did a “copy & paste”, but they don’t. They disect it into pieces removing the links and any identifing marks, and then call it their own. This is the problem.

The other problem is when we report them to you, you make them a member, instead of making them pay for their crime. I say ban them from membership for 2 years, and force them to remove the stolen content.

If they survive the 2 years without InterNACHI’s help, then let them join. This will give the competing NACHI members a chance to regain marketshare in their area. If they can’t, they have no one to blame but themselves. At least the members in good standing were given a chance to undue the damage done.

JMHO.

Currently, our COE does not apply to non-members, so we don’t have a mechanism by which to weigh the actions of an applicant prior to joining. I defer to Jim Bushart on this though.

Your approach to this is not only a good way of doing business … but is the most effective, IMO.

Bringing a competitor into the association forces him to comply with the same ethical standards that I do and actually provides a recourse that would otherwise be unavailable to me for unethical behavior on his part.

Since it is your copyright on the material it is your choice as to how to enforce it and I would certainly regret seeing you tying up resources that you are presently using to help members grow and market their businesses by suing part-time wannabe home inspectors for what they publish on their web pages.

Very nice Nick. Having just started out every bit helps. I certainly agree InterNACHI provides value to it’s members in many, many ways.

I had a meeting here for Inland NW NACHI the other night. A couple were recent converts from A$HI, said they just couldn’t make that membership pencil anymore (I figured that out in June of '03) . . .

The survivors of that ship are mostly staying on board from peer pressure, it seems.

Triple “Yes”, Ben; there’s 9-10 in my AO!

Thanks Nick where I’m at you need every little thing to help not a very good market;-)

Thanks Ben! Yes, yes and yes! I have 15+ in my service area. What do we need to do to take advantage of the pilot?
