Angie’s list for leads

Hey guys so I was contacted by a rep from Angie’s list who’s quoting me 500$ for the month flat rate I don’t pay per lead. Sounded like a good idea since my minimum I charge for an inspection is 500. However been reading a lot of bad stuff about Angie’s was wondering what people in the home inspection field think thanks guys

Not if you plan on getting any work from them it isn’t!!

As them about their money back guarantee…
that is if you don’t want to hear from them again.

Is this your website below? If so, you have a few issues to clean up before paying big bucks for leads.

The click to have you call me button comes up with an error and there is a warning at the bottom of the page that you may not be certified by NACHI. Also, your contact buttons and get quote buttons don’t seem to do anything, or do unexpected things. Lastly, you should have someone comb through to fix grammatical errors as that can be a major turn off for clients! If you don’t have someone who can competently fix the grammatical errors, run the text through Grammerly or other checkers available online. Hope that helps!

I don’t see any link there you mind sending me the link of what your talking about ?

I’m not sure why the link disappeared. It was there for a while. I put it back in my post above and here it is again…

Edit: Link keeps disappearing. Just search “feelsafeinspection Florida” If it is an old website, I would get it removed because it is the first thing that comes up when I search your name and home inspection!

I use home advisor, I signed up with their win with Angie guarantee, which means if you don’t get a job within 10 leads they give you your money back, since most of their leads are garbage, I ended up using the guarantee and then moving to an opportunity account only. Which means they only charge me for leads I accept after I look over the details. Their leads are mostly trash, however, you can still get a decent amount of work while you work on getting leads more organically.

Ok yea that is like 2 years ago before I was even licensed I was just playing and made that website I’m otowninspection.com but I will delete that cause your right

These are some bold claims.

And more than one statement is not accurate. Such as:

I just looked at the website. Why do these companies that build the websites for home inspectors always put a ton of dudes in hardhats. I just signed with an seo in order to throw away some money. I already had a perfectly good website but it wasn’t “optomized”. Either way, they send me the new website and there are 2 pictures of people wearing hardhats. I ask them to replace those photos for that reason and put something more appropriate. They send me the update and they removed the two photos and added in five more in other areas. I swear they were trolling me.

Hardhats protect you from all the free books that are thrown at you for a good review.

Alijah Barbosa,
If you have a thin skin, I recommend that you do not read this post. If you want to improve and be a good inspector, read on. I have read over my comments several times and considered not posting, because this might offend you. But for us to build each other up and sharpen each other and make each other better, there must also sometimes be some tearing down, some teaching. Sometimes a gentle approach is not effective, and these are some things I think you need to be aware of.

I agree with others here. Before you do any advertising or buy leads, you need to fix some problems with your website and your sample report. Your sample report is sending potential customers running the other direction. It is clear to me after reading your report, that you are not ready to inspect houses for a living. You are not ready to inspect houses for a fee.

At the beginning of the report you have a picture of yourself with a ladder leaned against the gutter, but in the report you reveal that you inspected the one story home’s roof with a drone on a sunny day. Why didn’t you get on the roof? Here is the entirety of what you reported on the roof:

Why do you expect your homebuyer client to do a more thorough roof inspection than you are doing? You gave her no useable information about the condition of her roof. This is absolute nonsense.

I’m struggling to understand why this paragraph is in your report:

“Most HVAC (heating, ventilating and air-conditioning) systems in houses are relatively simple in design and operation. They consist of four components: controls, fuel supply, heating or cooling unit, and distribution system. The adequacy of heating and cooling is often quite subjective and depends upon occupant perceptions that are aected by the distribution of air, the location of return-air vents, air velocity, the sound of the system in operation, and similar characteristics. It’s your job to get the HVAC system inspected and serviced every year. And if you’re system as an air lter, be sure to keep that lter cleaned.”

Again, you gave her no useable information about a major system in her home.

Here is another quote from your report.

Is this a major defect or a minor defect? your second picture is sideways. Did you notice that your ridge vent is 50% blocked by shingles or underlayment?

Here is another one that bothers me:

Is this all you have to say about the insulation? Did you not read on the back of the insulation in a previous picture that it is R-19 (that is not 9" thick). How Many climate zones do you inspect in, and how do you not know what climate zone this house is in?

There are many more examples I could give but let me just stop with this last one:

WTF!

Your client Laura Gonzales did not get a good inspection from you and now you are sharing this with all who browse your web page. You owe her a refund.

Your sample report is turning customers away. Consider shadowing a good inspector and learn how to inspect a house. You are not ready to inspect houses for a fee.

I concur Bret.

That is not a professional report in any sense of one’s imagination.

Edit: Oops. Bert. Sorry!

I have seen this in Spectora reports, but it may be used in others. Any idea where it comes from?

I think you are only allowed to use that paragraph if you are a spectora subscriber.

Yes. It is from “Big Ben’s” template which is available in the Spectora template library. Like I have said in previous posts, the template is terrible and it should be removed from the library (as many others should).
