Hi, we live in Wisconsin and are thinking about doing inspections in Florida for 3 months in the winter. Does anyone else do this? Does it work out OK?

As a Florida inspector I would think it would be too short a time to establish any good contacts. That and the tendancy of agents to use people they know are going to be around for a while in case a problem comes up with the inspection. There are lots of out of town contractors here in Florida now providing services to homeowners still trying to get over last years and this years hurricanes. The overall feel I keep hearing is to use the local contractors so if you discover a problem later you can find them. There are lean times during the year even for established inspectors here. May be very difficult to break in on such a short visit.

Get with Kevin McMahon.
His service area appears sooooo big I think he does at least Panama City!
You guys can car pool!
There are a lot of Fla Inspectors here.
When is business at it's peak? Winter or that blasted summer !
Fla is really a state that doesn't want contractors sliding in and out.
It takes several years working for someone else in the HVAC field to apply for your own licence. I'm sure this on the horizon for Fla. HI's.
How about looking at the local WI market for those going to Fla to look for property. They can bring their inspector with them!
There are some times of the year, 80% of the cars on the Interstate are either from Fla or WI. Cumin or goin!
