Being a member of InterNachi is much more then a logo, Not that Nick would allow this guy to be a member at this point, but why would you just want to put a logo on your website, when InterNachi has so much more to offer. I’m a new inspector, and I am still building cliental, But I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am now with out InterNachi
Thank you Kate!
I agree whole hartily Matthew. I am coming up very quickly on my first full year of opertion and without Internachi and all the knowledge base and assistance I don’t think I would be where I am today.
Post about CMI Dwight back in 2007 …

ASHI’s largest chapter is called the Great Lakes Chapter. They basically have members in probably 6-7 states. Last time I went to one of their quarterly weekend seminars they had over 200 inspectors in attendance (mainly their own chapter).
I’d heard for years they had top notch education and speakers SO I decided to go to one of their Friday - Sunday quarterly chapter meetings. One of the 1st seminars of theirs I ever attended was either in Chicago OR Indy back about 1997 or 1998.
Great speakers, lot of camraderie AND they had 1 day devoted to PEER reviews.
There were 3 levels … The top level earned you their CMI designation. Don’t remember everything but you had to have been a dues paying ATTENDING member for say 2-3 yrs; you had to take a written test of THEIR design; take a verbal test OR interview with 3-5 senior inspectors; go out to a house they had picked AND had 2-4 senior inspectors nit pick it to death. Part of the PEER review for the CMI designation was you had to inspect it yourself AND find all the significant deficiencies they did and NOT miss any; then you had 1-2 hrs to compile a report AND present it to their review committee AND they had to agree you presented it accurately. They charged for the PEER review (say $100 - $150).
Many guys I met had gladly taken the PEER review 3-4 times to pass. They were real proud of that CMI pin they got. BUT that was back around 1997 or 1998. Its probably different now. I met Dwight Barnett at one of those meetings 15 to 20 years ago, long before we at NACHI had a CMI designation OR before we were even very far out of the drawing board. … Beside being an inspector he was a syndicated columnist for Knight-Ridder I believe if memory serves me correctly.
I’d guess Dwight has been inspecting for over 25-26 yrs and for the past 10 yrs has been a multi-man shop. Have no idea how many inspections he does.
