Asking for Beta Testers for Eave: Home Inspection Report Software

Hey all,

I’m a software engineer, and my dad’s actually a home inspector and for years I’ve heard him complain about how expensive, clunky, and confusing report software is. That’s what got us started on Eave, a report tool built for solo inspectors from the ground up instead of bolted onto old software. It handles report creation, client delivery (web page + PDF), custom templates, automatically triggered warnings flags and maintenance tips, client e-signatures, video in reports, and a few other things.

We’re still in beta and looking for a handful of InterNACHI inspectors willing to actually use it on real inspections and tell us what’s broken, missing, or annoying. Not looking for a crowd, just a few people who’ll kick the tires for real and give honest feedback (good or bad).

What’s in it for you if you jump in now:

  • Your first 5 inspection reports are free, no card required to start
  • Lock in $10/month after that for good. Price is going up once we’re out of beta, but beta testers keep this rate permanently as long as you’re an active user
  • An iOS app is going up for App Store review very soon, so mobile access is coming shortly too, but the mobile version on the web works great right now!

In exchange, we’d just ask for real usage and honest notes, like what’s confusing, what’s missing, what would make you actually switch from what you use now.

If you want to try it, reply here or email me at [email protected] and I’ll get you set up. Happy to answer questions about how it works too, but if you prefer reading docs you can also click on “Docs & Help” at the top of the page on our website:

Thanks so much! We are not an official vendor yet, but we are excited to create features that inspectors really want and your feedback will go such a long way in getting there soon.

No offense, but you’re the 22nd person asking for someone to help them beta test their software in the last 60 days.

And probably the 30th or 40th person in the last 6 months.

Hence why you have few takers.

“clunky, and confusing report software” was a thing maybe 8-10 years ago, but not really an issue anymore.

Expensive? Ok, you have a point.

But PDF? I already don’t care.

Sign on the spot? No, everyone signs in advance to reserve their spot. That’s not a feature.

And for me, if I can’t quickly and easily import my template from my current software that I’ve spent years and years perfecting, I have ZERO interest.

Was there a weekend seminar recently where they pitched software creation as a franchise or something? It can’t be random coincidence.

Seems like a new post almost word for word every other day with the same (or similar) concept.

To the OP, you may have a great product, I don’t know, I just find the timing so interesting. $10/month is certainly a price point many in the industry will like, the major players in the HI software arena are 10X that fee.

That one guy who was pitching his software here, confessed that AI made it really easy to create new software. That really turned on the light for me. I’ve been working with Claude for a week on making my own. It’s not where I want it yet, but it looks like I am near the light at the end of the tunnel. I have about eleven total hours into it so far. Considering I know nothing about code or writing software, Claude is like hiring that great code writer for a fraction of the normal cost.

I find that fascinating so I’ll be interested to know when you believe it is ready for prime time on your inspections.

Fair points, and thanks for the specific feedback — this is exactly what I was hoping to get. A few things:

On signing: you’re right that signing the report isn’t the meaningful moment — that happens when someone books you. So we built pre-inspection agreement signing instead: client signs digitally to confirm the appointment, which is the actual binding step. Report e-signature is just a delivery receipt on top of that.

On templates: import from Spectora/HomeGauge/anything else is one of our new features

No hard feelings about the timing — I know the forum’s seen a lot of “help me beta test” posts lately. Happy to just answer questions if that’s more useful than a sign-up ask.
