Many of the crawlspaces out in the boonies use those to keep the pollen, fertilizer, etc of whatever those little green plants under the grow lights down there are.

Does the “filtering system” cut down on air flow through the attic? I might be able to see it if something powerful was pulling air through the filter, but here it would just be natural air flow. If the gable vents were designed for a specific air flow, would these filters now cause a decrease in that air flow? And what would be the result?

"would these filters now cause a decrease in that air flow?"

Yes.

"And what would be the result?"

Decreased air flow. ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)

Jerry hit it .

You would not want to cross pollinate a pure strain of Orchids. It also makes a decent light filter. icon_lol.gif As far as decreased airflow I am sure there were fans to make up the difference.

However, the new occupants might not need the filter ,and most likely have no cause to add fans for better circulation. So the filter should be removed for proper ventilation.

Using the flue as support was a clothes rod, with this (and others) hanging on it:

On the other hand, the new owners probably won't have the grandkids, etc. So removing the air filters probably will suffice.

Jerry, you surprised me this time. Don't know if that is good or bad. ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)

. . .
Now tell me, do you really want to raise the temperature of the roof?
. . .
We all know that venting the heat out of the attic is the best thing for the roof. . .

I expected him to say something similar here about the filters blocking the gable vents.

RR give me a break. Why would anyone install a filter on the attic vent???

I see shelving hmmmm what could that be for?
I have seen variations off this many times. Like the one Kevin posted with the a/c unit in the attic and he was not allowed up the ladder.!? Did you see any I bolts in the rafters?/ Just my demented oppinion. ![icon_cool.gif](upload://oPnLkqdJc33Dyf2uA3TQwRkfhwd.gif)

No drugs. The Percocets are long gone. icon_rolleyes.gif I always ramble.

I have been in two attic’s that had the vents blocked with filters, and an a/c unit installed like the one in Kevin’s post on another thread. In both cases the space was used for growing pot. I asked about the eye bolts cuz that’s what I found in both of these spaces.

When I was a helper sparky in Texas I saw similar setups quite often during service calls.
