Can it be this bad?

OK.

Hence forth James Braun will be required to pay more for gas, groceries, clothing and housing than everyone who makes less than he does.

After all, as he is richer than many, it’s only fair.

Just because I make more, does not mean I should pay less taxes than somebody who makes less.

You don’t and neither does Warren Buffet.:roll:

Please try and be consistent.

I think we should all understand that for the last 40 years we (baby boomers) have elected people to office who have not spent our money wisely. We are all at fault for choosing good looking charismatic people instead of effective managers. Well, (Reagan impression) after 40 years of spend, spend, spend, its time to pay the bill.

We need to raise taxes (on everyone) once were back on track, tax a little more the nikes and apples that dont create american jobs, and cut the federal budgets across the board. It will take 10 years to balance the budget but it needs to be done, now. David Walker for president.

Without serious spending cuts there will never be any balancing of the budget.

Every dollar collected in taxes comes out of our economy where it could have been put to better and more efficient use on the private side.

You think the way they want you to think… That the only way out is to tax more… The only problem with this kind of think is no matter how much you pay in they will always spend it and not one penny will every go to pay down the debt they only cover the interest:shock:

Its all of the above or it wont work. This web site has the best solutions in my opinion. Take the time to check it out and remove the Republican or Democrat from the process.

Correction: We only need to remove the Democrats from the Republican party:mrgreen:

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_otfwl2zc6Qc/SO4ELxDHwYI/AAAAAAAAF1Y/nW8pnKyN-P8/s400/tax2.bmp According to the most recent tax data from the IRS through 2006 (available here from the Tax Foundation):

The top 1% of taxpayers earned $1.79 trillion (22.06% of the total) in 2006 and paid $408.4 billion in taxes (about 40% of the total). The bottom 95% of taxpayers earned $5.14 trillion (63.34% of the total) and paid $408.1 billion taxes (about 40% of the total).

In other words, the top 1% of U.S. taxpayers paid slightly more in federal income taxes ($408.4 billion) in 2006 than the entire bottom 95% of taxpayers paid ($408.1 billion), see top chart above.

That’s because money follows money. I was born into a very poor coal-mining family. I was essentially sold into slavery at a young age. My immigrant grandfather died of black lung. But once I made my first big pile of money, the money itself took over and did most of the heavy lifting from then on.

You can’t really blame the rich entirely or credit them entirely, for their success. They just got over the hump, and once you do that it’s smooth sailing.

James we are still waiting for your agreement to be charged more for everything you purchase for the sole reason that you are richer than your neighbor.

The OP has nothing to do with rich or poor. Its simple math. As country we have allowed our leaders to use the EnronMadoff accounting method. We need to stop the trash talk and fix it or we will all be working for walmart.

You are saying, Michael, that the current tax system is fair?

I am not suggesting a tax on purchasing, just a better tax system on income.

The only “better tax” that there is, is a lower tax.

Then how do you propose to payoff the last forty years of deficits.
