Canadian electrical code for GFCI

I spoke with a code inspector today that was saying that GFCI receptacles are not required by a kitchen sink according to the electrical codes of Canada. Does anyone have a copy that can confirm this for me. He encourages people to install them.

Depends on which version of the CEC, Part 1 the jurisdiction is enforcing. The first appearance in the CEC was 2006; see Section 26-700 (11).
