I finally converted my web site from frames (and made a few changes as suggested previously).

I believe I got it all working right.

Anything not working right or improvements which I should make?

Thanks.

my web site

Jerry…

Looks good. The only thing I would comment on are the 16 thumbnails at the top. They are about 30K each, almost half a megabyte in total. No problem for me as I have a fast DSL line, but others might find them slow loading. I recommend you resize the photo's for the thumbnails to the actual 104 x 78, which, with some compression, should bring them down below 4k each.

Richard,

Done (sort of, I resized them down to 160x120). Down to about 7k each or about 125k total.

That should make dial-up users easier to use.

Thanks.

Yes.

I used to have it directed to a frame area, but now I have to have it come up as its own page.

Is the login better now?

Well, its bigger but it doesn’t have the same theme (pic of houses at top, menu at left, etc) that are on the other pages on your site. By having all the pages with the same scheme it reassures the person that they are sill at the same site and haven’t inadvertently clicked on a link taking them to another site. Just my two cents.

Paul,

I agree and originally tried to make that username and password page look like the others, but (so far) have not been able to do that. I do understand what you are saying, though. Just one of the glitches I encountered changing from frames, I believe I overcame all the others without anyone being able to notice (other than the entire page reloads every time versus just the frame, but all sites do that.

Paul,

Okay, came back with a fresh mind and figured out what I was doing wrong. How it is now?

Jerry I am on Dial Up service (53.2 kbps) and in my opinion the pictures are OK at the present size I did not see them before you resized.

Honest opinion, I didn’t want to read the info because there was too much jumping around with text size, colour, font, etc. looks a little un-professional. Jus my .02 cents.

Jason,

That's what I need to know.

Anyone else feel that way too?

Would it be better if it were all black?

My web site is about 10 years old and this is the first major updating its had since then.

Jerry, I liked it. Very colorful. Didn’t see any NACHI reference. Doug

Looked a little chaotic to me Jerry.

Too many text sizes, colors, fonts. Just my opinion.

Click the top link 'Who are we'.

Second listing down.

I like the colors too (that's why I put them there), but if it looks too unprofessional, I will gladly change them to black.

How about the various font sizes? To much too? Should be more consistent in font size?

My feeling is no more than two fonts. One for main body one for emphasis.

I’d take the same approach toward color in the text as well.

Get too many fonts and colors and someone will mistake you as being from Houston.

Jerry,

Login is much better as it ties in to the rest of the site.

One final suggestion. To separate different blocks of information on the same page, try using different colored backgrounds for those blocks. But the colors should be different shades of the same basic color. Just look at NACHI. The title, address, menu, posts are all on differnt backgrounds showing a well organized site.

I’ll have to start making some of those changes (eliminating some of the colors and font size changes).

Thanks for the input.

Jerry, with all those certifications, when did you have time to work? I like your site. Thanks for pointing the NACHI ref. out. Don’t know how I missed that. All the best ! Doug
