For everyone else, if you delete the [img] from the line, it will just be a link to the picture instead of the whole picture.

I think what he’s trying to say is can he view other posts without having to view the photo’s. Photo’s take a long time to load if you have a dialup connection. Especially the larger ones.

Kevin,
I know and I don't think there is a way to disable photos. If everyone would upload the pictures like the second example, it would make it easier for everyone else.
Mike,
The don't have dsl in Columbus?

I’m also on dialup but don’t find the pictures take that long. You can disable your browser from displaying images.
In Internet Explorer go to TOOLS then INTERNET OPTIONS... then click on the ADVANCED tab and go down to SHOW PICTURES and remove the check mark. click apply.
Netscape has a similar option to not display images.

I’d rather see the img disabled so the ONLY way is the link.
Too many people just aren't considerate at all and upload MegaByte size pictures and include them in line.
I do the "disable images" thing, but it's a real pain in the a$% when I do want to see the image to reset it to show. Then to find out it's going to take 10 minutes to download it.
I'd rather see just a link to the picture, with a file size next to it, so we could determine if we want to take the time to download it.

Hi to all,
maybe the quick answer is to reduce the maximum allowed file size that can be uploaded, at present we can handle up to 100 KB, normally when I post a picture in the QoD I reduce the pixel size to a maximum dimension of 450 pixels and save the photo for web which compresses it, this can reduce a high resolution photo down to as low as 25kb.

I notice the quality of the smaller file size pics is not that good, or difficult to save and enlarge to look at something closer to answer a question. The 100k file size limit seems reasonable, and I have a dial-up connection.

I am absolutely amazed sometimes by how much thought goes into doing things wrong

I am on dial up and have no problems with 100K.
IMO if you do not want to see pictures make the adjustment on your PC, do not make the rest of us who want pictures have to open 3 more windows to see the pictures and bounce back and forth to the text that goes with them.

Mike, and other similarly situated,
One thing you can do, if you are using Internet Explorer, is change your setting so that images don't automatically display. Do the following . . .
Click the drop menu TOOLS
Select INTERNET OPTIONS
Select the ADVANCED tab
Scroll down to the MULTIMEDIA section
Remove the check mark from the box SHOW PICTURES
Click APPLY and OKAY
Now, images appear only as little image markers. If you want to see the related image you RIGHT-CLICK on the image marker and select SHOW PICTURE.
This way every one is served. In my area 66%+ people are on some type of broadband connection, but then I in a major city.
