The Meeting is being held 3 hours away from my Office. I will be unable to attend.
I am curious as to what contacts have been made outside of this message board to Members in that area. I spoke with a NACHI Member in Harrisburg who does not visit the message board and he was unaware of a meeting to be held or that a Chapter was forming.

I did let him know. He will try to attend.
However, this is out of my market area. I should not be the first line of notification.
It is alos evident that the BB is not a successful medium for Chapter Development.
Bringing in Speakers from Canada, New York, Maryland, etc does little to help a Chapter form if the Inspectors in the Market area are unaware of the Meeting.

I know of a Marketing Rep from one of the largest Multi-Inspector firms in the Harrisburg Market area. He traveled to Phil Hinman's Chapter Meeting in New Jersey from Harrisburg, PA and made a contribution to the New Jersey cause.
I wonder if he was invited or is aware of the Meeting.

I'm sure that as a former president and active member, you filled him in on all the details and encouraged him to attend. Right, Joe?
My point is, Mr. Hagarty, if you had information that would have been of benefit to Mr. Picka, you have immediate access to his email address and phone number. If you had the desire to harass and/or embarass him instead, you were conducting yourself in a manner that would lead toward that end.
I would hope that some of the more experienced members who have - of late - been lamenting about some of the lack of respect they feel they are being shown, would do something worthy of receiving it. Here was an opportunity to do that.

Walter,
It is not easy to start a Chapter let alone keep one going. As I'm sure the "oldies" in here will tell you as much as you plan in advance you will find that many Inspectors will show up at the last minute.
This is by no means unusual! HI"S will leave confirmation to the last minute as they would prefer to have an inspection rather than attend a meeting. If the meeting is more than an hours drive away, by the time they finish up with the last inspection for the day they might not be able to attend, even if they wanted to.
If the meeting is during the week that makes it that much harder for some.
As it is daylight longer at this time HI's will work till thee sun goes down.
If you plan a meeting for a weekend, others won't attend due to inspections or family functions. Unfortunately "Life" can get in the way of many things including meetings.
Keep a stiff upper lip, an ear to the ground and all will come through.
Never be afraid to ask one (if not more) of the more seasoned Inspectors for their help. You might even want to consider asking them to attend as a guest speaker if you know there will be a lot of so called "newbies" attending.
Anything I can do to help just give me a shout, either here, email, or pick up the phone and call.
Best regards and I'll see you at the meeting.
