It sounds like I missed a good first meeting, but am looking forward to the second on May 27th. I am a NEW HI, having just today received my EIN, after receiving my LLC. See you all there.

Igor,

A question for your meeting tomorrow, see if Larry Ott can clarify this statement.

See the following statement from the HUD/FHA

http://www.hud.gov/offices/hsg/sfh/faqs/faqs_sf.cfm#Q17
Question: Who pays for the home inspection?
Answer: You, the homebuyer, pay for the inspection. FHA, however, will allow up to $300 of the cost of the inspection as part of the down payment requirement. Back to Top

I have asked mortgage people around my area and have received the resounding that this is a misleading statement. To consider taking advantage of this offer would mean receiving payment from closing proceeds. (Not a great idea)

However the way it reads to me for what it is worth: I see this as the customer pays AA Home Inspection at the time of the deal and the receipt up to $300 is a credit at the closing table.
(Obviously to simple)

This applies to Home Inspections performed on customers applying for FHA, this site also clearly identifies the ?FHA inspection? is not a home inspection.

I would like to be able to tell my customers that they can use this as a credit, sounds like a free inspection to the customer.

Thanks, ![icon_confused.gif](upload://qv5zppiN69qCk2Y6JzaFYhrff8S.gif)

I talked to Larry Ott. He said he’s not kidding. They’re bringing a bus full of inspectors from Pittsburgh to our next meeting. NYNACHI is becoming NENACHI (North East NACHI).

I'll get us a stadium for summer 2004.

The next NY NACHI Chapter meeting is next Tuesday, July 29th at 6pm. ALL WELCOME. New location *.

EVERYONE is cordially invited to the next meeting of the New York Chapter of the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors (NACHI) on Tuesday July 29th. Based in the Hudson Valley of New York state, the chapter now has 44 members and is attracting more members from throughout its home state, as well as parts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Members of NACHI, SPREI, ASHI, HICAG and NAHI attend. This monthly meeting is the home inspection event of the Northeast. New and veteran home inspectors are all welcome-you need not be a member of NACHI. Anyone interested in home inspections can attend. Dress casual if you like, as our meetings are informal and fun, the way they should be. Wives welcome. Come hungry!

* We have outgrown our old location and will now be meeting at the South Street Restaurant, Route 17 North, Sloatsburg, NY in the Lower Hudson Valley of New York. The restaurant phone number is (845) 753-5200. *

Please RSVP NACHI member Igor Smetaniuk at ttbi@mercurylink.net if you plan to attend. He wants to give the restaurant some idea of how much food to cook.

Dinner cost is $20 but there are NO DUES to join the NY NACHI Chapter. Membership is free and everyone is welcome.

Questions? email Patsy Maietta at: Patm3@frontiernet.net

Hi Nick,

you may also like to add to that, that the education committee has decided that each chapter meeting will count as a I hr CEU, in doing so we recognise the Educational as well as social benefits of these meetings.

Just wish I could come down there again myself ![icon_lol.gif](upload://zEgbBCXRskkCTwEux7Bi20ZySza.gif)

Igor,

Let's not forget to let prospective attendes know that this month we have a special speaker joining us from Cornell University's Horticulture Labs to talk with us about mold and indoor air quality. He's not a salesman, and doesn't represent a lab that's in the mold business. He's there to provide some guidance and answer questions in a common sense and direct manner, from a non-biased standpoint. Should be refreshing...

Joe’s the only guy I know that can level shots at last month’s speakers in an announcement about this month’s speaker.

Please keep Joe fed during this month's NY NACHI meeting. I can't be there to do it. Watch your fingers though.

Just kidding with you Joe.

Anyway, I'll post Igor's announcement on the front page.
