Chapter 12, Weather Theory:
Drones are a light weight machine that can be easily influenced be weather conditions. Performance of the craft can be effected by temperature, moisture, wind speed, and barometric pressure. When flying close to buildings or trees extra allowances should be taken into consideration for wind gusts and also changes in wind direction including up drafts and down drafts.
I appreciated how the class started with rules and regulations. I don’t have a drone yet but thought having a little more knowledge about using a drone would help me decide which drone would be best for me. I’ve been thinking about doing this for awhile, now being stuck at home with this pandemic, I have the time and am looking forward to what I’m about to learn.
I’m stuck on visual flight rules in section 2. When I click on the users Guide link, I’m confused as to what information I need to know and where to find it. I don’t see the a VFR Terms Tab.
Thanks,
Paul
Since the Hudson Valley goes from NY City into the Adirondacks at Lake Tear of the Clouds, some 235 miles, not sure where to suggest. In the Albany area try Schenectady County Community College. They have a pilot training program. Also, the flight school at the Schenectady Airport. For other locations check local flight schools.

Please continue with the course after submitting your essay.
I read Chapter 12 Weather Theory and learned that convective currents can cause bumpy turbulent air that can be experienced when flying at low altitudes during warmer weather. Plowed ground, rocks, sand, and barren land absorb solar energy quickly and can therefore give off large amounts of heat. Water, trees, and other large areas of vegetation tend to absorb and give off heat slowly. Convective currents are particularly noticed in areas with large land masses next to large bodies of water such as oceans and lakes.
