Several cities in the U.S. are more violent than Bagdad

Last night it was reported on FOX News](http://www.foxnews.com/) that 80% of the violence and violent death in Iraq occurs in and around Baghdad.

Baghdad has a population somewhere around 7,000,000. In 2003 the ****governorate (or province) of Baghdad ****](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baghdad_Governorate)had a population estimated at 6,400,400.. Iraq has a population](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq) of 26,074,906.

What this means:

1-) First of all, Iraq the country has a lower violent death rate than many US cities have had.

It is pretty high here is the St.Louis area also. If there is a poor section that harbors unemployed, depressed workers it happens.

I didn’t write that email. I recieved it from an Illinois resident who I’m pretty sure doesn’t live on top of an earthquake fault. I was asking not so much about the murder statistic, but more so of the comments on the prison, school and sales tax items.

The school system is probably the worse one in the country, also the most expensive. They complain every year they need more money, and still have bad results. My brother teaches in a northwest suburb, a very high tax district, where they spend the same amount or less per student than the city of Chicago. His district, like many other suburbs, have MUCH better results.

California is broke. We just approved a 3.2 billion dollar increase for the school system. They will receive a whopping 58.1 billion dollars this year and still have a 24% state wide high school drop out rate. The tax and spend policies of the democrat controlled state legislature simply do not work. Now the dems are trying to change our state constitution to allow for a simple majority on any and all budget and spending issues. Our state currently requires two-thirds vote for budget and constitutional issues. If it changes, bye-bye california as we know it…

You really want ‘national health care’? You had better come to Canada to see what it is really like first.

My Wife has been hobbling around on a cane for a year and a half with multiple appointments for tests, X-rays, physio etc. etc. etc. The first doctor told her a year ago that she needs a new knee. She finally saw the surgeon last week and was told that it will be 9 - 12 months before she gets her replacement.

You really want national health care? Be careful what you wish for . . . . . .

The educational system in the entire country shameful.

Nobody cares about the future, just hear and now.

Where is business training in HS?

How much time is spent learning about Investment?

What happened to all the trade schools?

We have a meltdown of our financial institutions going on right now. National Health Care. NO THANKS. I’m satisfied with what I pay for to take care of myself.

And, Cook County President, Todd Stroger is now asking for an additional couple of mil for “operating expenses”.

It is very simple.

Democrats, by and large, control the big cities.

The have, historically, been able to do so by appealing to the “underprivledged” (which, today, primarily means inner sity blacks, the main force behind Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, who are “race pimps” who gather power by mobilizing these people to “boycott, protest and riot” when they don’t get what they want).

Look back on Johnson’s “War on Poverty”, part of the “Great Society”.

This policy lead to:

  1. The break up of inner city families.
  2. Race riots (Watts, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, etc).
  3. The welfare state.
  4. “entitlements”
  5. Jesse Jackson being able to extort many millions of dollars from corporations (His son owns the largest liquor distributorship in the Chicago area). Did you ever wonder why the “reverend” Jackson is a multi-millionare? What is his source of income? Hint: Check out the federal finanial statement that he filed when he was running for Pres?

And, remember, Mayor Daley’s main "political consultant. David Axelrod, is Obama’s campaign manager.
