I just started courses on home inspection. along the way, I check out my house as I read through the lessons. While in the attic, I found that one side of my chimney was not bricked up. hum? yes, NO BRICKS on one side of the chimney in the attic. well, I’m confused.
this seams dangerous. could anybody tell me , just how bad this is.

What do you mean by not bricked up? Can you see the flue lining in the attic? That would be very dangerous

This is a 7 year old house. The chimney extends fully bricked 3 feet above the roof. In the opening, I can not see flue, just the plywood. The roof is leaking right above this area.
sorry for quality of the picture. It is very difficult to get to it.
