Chinese NM cables

Saw these a few weeks ago on a new construction. Threw me off with the different color scheme to the cable/jacket. I sure hope this doesn’t become a problem down the road like the whole Chinese drywall fiasco

Expect to start seeing NM romex cable in different colors. Oddly enough, I haven’t seen red yet.

new Cerrowire colors
14/2 should stay white
14/3 will be light blue
12/2 will stay yellow
12/3 will be purple

Why do you say these are Chinese cables?

Look at the name on the website logo and bottom of the front page on how to contact them.

Yea I’ve seen the light blue one before. Haven’t seen purple yet

I’ve Discovered some differences in the NM-B vs NM-D type cables that i would like to bring to the attention of the Nachi community. This seemed like the appropriate place to do this.

The teaching material was routinely calling what i knew to be called “Loomex” by the new to me, name of: NM or Romex, and i had to search this odd new term to learn why the alternative designation was being used or if they were interchangeable. They are close but not quite interchangeable. Back in 2015 the Canadian Electrical Code book permitted the ground wire to be downsized by 1 AWG size. NOT the Neutral (circuit identifier) but the bare ground wire. In order to mes with the Canadian electricians, every 3 years, the Canadian Electrical code puts out a new book. Costing nearly $400 each, but to justify it, this requires changing “Something” and that year it was the ground wire size.

Just something else to be aware of. Heads up.
