Does anyone know the approximate lifespan of a clay tile roof? I’m in Kansas where we have four seasons if that matters any.

Clay Tiles: 20+ Years, Durable, fireproof, ( but not watertight ), requiring a good subsurface base.

Much aliken to Cement Tiles

Not recommended for use on low slope roofs

i agree with Russel, teracota is real pourus, which is why it’s good for flower pots, and roofs on a house that doesn’t see much rain, althou i have heard a rumor about a pvc style roof material made to look like red clay tile. i havn’t seen one in person yet, but it sound like a pretty good idea. icon_cool.gif

My parents home has got a clay tile roof. I know for a fact that it lasted over forty years before it began to leak. (at valleys) Repair cost was high and my pop wasn’t happy with the use of aluminum nails (I think) instead of the original type. Anyhow like someone said it wasn’t the tiles that caused the leaks it was what was under them. Also because they are heavy the roof structure has got to be ‘beefy’.
