Can anyone help me with the codes for proper install of log porch post that hold the roof system up?
I’m looking at a 6 year old log home and all the porch post are starting to show major decay. I can not find the code requirements for how it should be installed.

That would help. Log porch columns are usually quite oversized, but major decay as you describe it would only be debated with pictures showing it.

Using codes in your report will get you in trouble.
Just report what you see and make a referral:
Log porch columns have substantial decay. I recommend a qualified log home specialist or qualified contractor assess ALL the decay and make corrections as needed.

I am not sure if I understand the question. Do you want to know how to replace them per code or an opinion on their condition?
Owner of the home has asked me what is the proper way to install the repayment logs so this dose not happen again. I was trying to get him the code outline so when he interviews contractors he would have the correct install method based on building codes.

In my opinion, if it is not in the book then I would have a structural engineer/design professional evaluate and prescribe a cure.
