WE JUST HAD A NACHI CHICAGO CLASS ON GAS DELIVERY.
NACHI CHICAGO RULES!!!
So it was too weird that the very next day at my inspection i find this.
I’m thinking this is CSST ( yellow colored pipe going into dirt)
Also note the NON METALLIC CABLE THAT IS BURIED - might be going into that plastic sleeve though i don’t like it anyway. The seller had lots of tools and did a buch to the home- i found lots of not quite right stuff as far ans installation - non pro stuff consistent with a do it yourself, fawk da code attitude.
I can’t see it close enough, looks like the jacket is distorted which is typical of csst. They do make a smooth yellow polyethelyne pipe rated for underground use.
If that is coming up from the street to the meter it is not CSST. Gas companies have been switching out supply lines with this pipe(like Bruce mentioned) for many years now.
Amateurish, black iron pipe is not protected from corrosion, Teflon tape instead of pipe dope on gas pipe, extra fittings that are unnecessary (galvanized coupling, union)…
