Is there a Deck Speck Code? I haven’t seen anything in the residential code book and when telling a builder that they built it wrong, they usually want to know how I came up with that conclusion. I need facts. I can’t say I heard it on the NACHI Message board, so it must be right. Also I have added an image. Does this look OK to anyone? I believe there were 8 nails in this 4x6 post.

I found out today that Georgia’s amendment to section R502.2.1 requires decks to be constructed in accordance with Chapter 3 of the 1996 Forest Products Society, “Wood Decks, Materials, Construction, and Finishing” manual. Better late than never.
