Drain vent question.

Just a quick question of all you plumbing nerds out there. icon_surprised.gif

When draining a bathtub, what is the cause of excessive gurgling noises?

Inadiquate drain vent? Vent too far away?

Usually found when the bathtub drain is a fair distance away from the wall, like in a whirlpool enclosure.

Any ideas.

If you suspect that a P-trap is not vented, mention it to the customer and record it in your report. Improperly installed vent pipes should be reported as a safety hazard.
