E&O alternatives in Canada

I don’t bother with mold or asbestos.

Before I was doing renovation work and my insurance was 1500$ a year. Felt I had far more risk.

Just curiosity, have you ever needed to use your insurance?? The deductible is ridiculous as is. Cheaper just to pay unless it’s something huge but will that happen. Maybe I guess.

We moved our GL from Aviva to Cooperators, and stayed through Totten for E&O. Shouldn’t be a problem for you.

I would have thought with the buy back program that is offered it would help to lower rates.

No, have never had to use it. To get the GL, we needed the E&O.

Not in Canada apparently.

Luckily I still have some time to get quotes. Keep on training. Mock inspections on family members houses. ( just making sure sticking to COVID protocols).

The buy back not in Canada?

Yeah, all quotes for E&O will lead back to Totten/HUB. Nobody else offers it for home inspectors that I’m aware of.

Yes, the buy back is for Canada as well.

Buy back program doesn’t effect insurance prices as far as I know. Could be totally wrong.

Unfortunately, we’re stuck with high prices until Nick brings something to Canada.

Yes. Hopefully sooner than later.

No, no. Just send the $ to me and I’ll honor my contract…there is a little fine print in it though.

I can imagine the fine print you’d have in there. :grinning:

Oh, it is written Kindly, Junior. You can be sure of that.

I was able to get in touch with Kim Smith from Hub. So glad I did. Rates were much more reasonable and she was very quick to respond. She had mentioned being part of InterNACHI and taking the Carson Dunlop training made it easier to get a better rate. Thanks again for the link to contact her

I am starting in Calgary and just signed up with Kim at HUB. Highly recommended.
Still not cheap, but required.

I’ve been shopping in Canada as well as in London for E&O since 2007!

There is not much choice here in Canada (forget about Québec…) as companies pull out.

Hub has most of the business and does not offer bargains…And with rising claims, premiums can only follow!
