Electric Shower head

Whoa big fella. That must have been one bad burger the other day. It’s got you all verklempt. So you don’t want them in your house. Ok. That’s pretty clear. I’m just trying to figure out why they are in such heavy use in other countries but not here.

So to further muddy the waters, if there were a major manufacturer, say Kohler or Price-Pfister, that comes up with a similar product, UL listed and top quality materials, any change in opinion? Or is is just the fact it is installed in the shower? Just trying to pick your brain. :wink:

Paul, you talking to yourself? You are way to young for that, but in any case I agree with you in whatever you are trying to point out.

It looks like crap and dangerous.

Should be submitted here;

Nope…opinions being what they are Steve. If they are designed to be wired like the one shown then nope…my opinion would be the same…:slight_smile:

As for who makes then…neither of those manufacturers are a concern of mine;)

Not trying to get into the middle of a spirited discussion between two folks, but I have seen those devices in Caribbean countries and can tell you that, beyond the connecting means and general dislike of mixing power and water, the interior of those things is scary. There is a rubber diaphram that moves a contact to complete the circuit once the water is turned on. I always think about what would likely happen if and when that thing springs a leak. I guess they are relying on a blown fuse to save the person in the shower, but given some of the wiring installation practices I have seen there, I wouldn’t bet on it!. I know people in poor countries have to pinch every penny; given the high cost of power many have just learned to take cold showers, but some will definitely opt for this low-cost solution. All that said, I absolutely believe that a safe version of such a device (possibly designed for mounting in the wall) could be designed and sold, although it would not likely sell well in the U.S. JMHO

You can buy a 240 water heater in just about every size imaginable. I have a small sink in my nursery with an on demand water heater smaller than a shoe box.

I think some are missing the point. We are not debating the intent if the product or the validity of such a product. What is being debated is poor design and unsafe nature of it’s design which creates a truly unsafe environment. Opinions being what they are and only based on the product shown and the poor nature of it’s design…I think any moderately educated person would agree with my original opinion of the product as a whole.

I’m usually not naked, wet, and grounded if I happen to touch my water heater - that’s a huge difference!:shock:

Now that’s just too much info fella…

I just had a new home built this year with 3 of the light up heads and did not see the electrical hookup.
They were the large elephant flat plaet soakers with a UV looking light coming through silicone tips.
Will post pics of the night club looking shower later today

Battery operated.

Wrong one but you found the right link as it is this one…http://www.bluebath.com/alfi-brand-led5008-12-square-led-rain-bathroom-shower-head-in-chrome.html?utm_source=amazon&utm_medium=cse&utm_term=6664

The “point” my friend was they are battery operated or self generating power devices using low voltage and have nothing to do with this thread. :roll:

Water powered mine were not that large as the video.Interesting.
