Electrical Tape?

I inspected a home today that all electrical connections are done with tape and not wire nuts (I know this because no box had a cover). I just moved to this area and don’t know if this is ok. “where I come from” it is not. I don’t want to look stupid in my new town.

It’s not OK unless you happen to be talking about a very old house with soldered and taped splices.

No. Home is being renovated and the electrical is new(ish). It redefines non-workman like mannor. Thanks for the quick reply.

All splices and joints and the free ends of conductors shall be covered with an insulation equivalent to that of the conductors or with an insulating device identified for the purpose.
