Exterior gas fireplace

I have an exterior gas fireplace without top exhaust, i want to call it out but im not sure if it is required to have a open chimney, one would think so.

Got a photo of the back side?

Is it a ventless fireplace? Is there a damper or flue? Ventless have neither.

appears to be a ventless unit, the [chimney] is just for decoration…

There is (or should be) a metal data plate chained to the gas logset that contains a ton of information, not the least of which is the make/model number, so you can verify the correct installation details of the unit.

The “exhaust” is just going to come out the front. Not a concern here. No more dangerous than standing over a gas grill or stove.

I agree with others that it’s a ventless type.

Ventless on the exterior would only make it into my report with a picture and description. I have a little more verbiage I use for interior ventless units.
