Hi to all,

Tim that is nasty, I would report the panel not being rated for exterior use, being damaged and having rusted connections, and recommend replacement of the panel by a licensed electrical contractor.

Also aren't the neutrals and grounds on the same bus?

Regards

Gerry

Gary, No the neutrals and grounds were not in the same buss bars, but the ground bar had so much rust on it that the gounds were pulling loose from the lugs. By the way are the GAry going to the Sacramento chapter meeting in Feb?

Ok…first that panel has no clearance to work with because of the liquid tight in front of it. Second all the rusting means chances are it probably did not have a cover or had knockouts that were not replaced…

Also it is not a Type I panel rated for outdoor use......most certainly a issue to write up.

I would say " Based on my observation of this electrical system, more specific the rusting and lack of protecton from exposure that i would have to recommend evaluation from a licensed electrical contractor."

This way you do not get into quoting panel type, code specs or anything other than your observation as noted.
