hello

can someone tell me what there thoughts are on a firewll. this pic

is a garage 1975 that had no ceiling untill the owner partialy installed one

on the firewll side. i cant see if there was a wall that is attached between the liv space and garage on the top part of the garage because of the partial ceiling added , but if there was a wall on the otherside and the new ceilng they added had holes in it , would this become a safety issue.

how would you write this up witha garage witha partial ceiling…

thanks

Firewall between garage and house is not visible.

Rafael;

The picture dose not do justice.

Most homes with an attached garage with no ceiling or a ceiling, should have a barrier in the attic for separation.

Although, this is thought of as a fire wall, it is actually a fire barrier, and smoke barrier.

If in your case you could not access the area to verify this, that should be noted in your report as unaccessible.

Does anyone know what year that ceilings and walls for attached garages and garages beneath homes were required to be fire rated?? I see a lot of older homes that do not have the drywall and have either 1/4" plywood (paneling) or OSB.
