The only flashing I could see was where this sloped roof met the sidewall. InterNACHI states that the siding can take the place of the counter flashing, but how can I assure that sidewall flashing is installed. And I don’t like how this is flashed with that small diameter piece where the roof meets the side. Any thoughts are welcome.

That is a re-roof and they butted the new shingles against the J-molding with a bead of tar.

Yup, and probably 2 layers which voids some manufacturers warranty.
