Flir case latches

I have a couple of e8 cases that have broken latches. Flir only sells replacement cases. Anybody been able to find just a replacement latch? Or have a damaged case, and wanted to just sell me the latch? Or have a 3-D printer and want to figure out and print me one? I just hate throwing away perfectly good cases over a latch…

Try a low tech work-around, like these silicone straps.

correct, try ace or harbor freight, or amazon latches

Will also help keep it from sliding around the truck bed (or wherever).

I would think Mark’s suggestion and a few rivets aught to do it.

They exactly give replacement cases away.

Flir charges outrageous prices for everything, several of the options above seem viable to me, other than paying over $200 for a case that you can get at HF for $40(?) on sale. I mean a piece of blue tape would do the trick. :man_shrugging:

Get rid of the case and just put it in your tool bag. That’s what I do anyway. Much faster to deploy and less stuff to carry. :sunglasses:

Sound advise… I think the only extra I ever got from flir that was worth the money was the shoulder carry case. That maybe another option too.

IMO, the case is for transporting without damage. Once on-site, you can’t use it if in the case anyway!

Get an after market plastic case. Seahorse is a good deal compared to Pelican (have used them on the motorcycle for years) and Harbor Freight has a good line of cases.

I carry a folded up bath towel in my tool bag to put under the attic hatch when I open it. The folded up towel makes a nice cradle for for my thermal camera during transport.

Next time you pickup some tape measures… get a couple of these.
They work better than towels, and provide better protection to flooring!
