Floor Joist Hanger?

The floor joist are nailed through the rim joist. I would still call this out and recommend adding proper joist hangers for additional support.

I don’t see a question in your post Ronald, but is there a beam to the left that is supporting the joists?

No sir, it only comes out about 4 feet from the wall.

Thank you sir

I would always recommend additional support material to provide additional structural integrity.
However I’m old , but I ain’t stupid.

So is this a cantilevered balcony?

Paints a different picture then.

it was done that way at one time …what is the age of the structure?

It never hurts to add hangers…

The band joists on the cantilevered end provides lateral support to keep the joists from rotating, but it’s not acting as a beam.

See those gaps? That is why I like joist hangers in this situation.

Are there guards attached to the rim band?

It’s not a balcony, just a deck with two span joists with a cantilevered over hang.

There’s nothing wrong with adding joist hangers, but I see no requirement to use them in this case.

Thanks Randy, kind of my thinking as well but like the other gentlemen stated, “it would hurt”. I would just feel better, I just made a suggestion.

No, not at all.

Looks relatively new. No one was present at the inspection.

Isn’t that a 1x facia board?

Morning, Roland.
Hope this post finds you well.

You have any images from further back?
There is a deficiency in the way the rim joist/band board is fastened. An image further back may expose more of the same poor workmanship that should be reported.
