I had a client ask me if it was ok to unplug the dehumidifier unit that was plugged into the furnace during the winter months to keep the home from drying out so much. I told them it should be OK. Was I right in thinking this?
?? You mean the humidifier?..humidifiers are there for winter months.
I tell them I don’t know anything about them as it is outside the scope of a home inspection.
You were right to say it was OK. If they are not going to use the humidifier, the water should also be turned off. A poorly maintained humidifier does far more damage than no humidifier or a turned off humidifier. Dry is good, ask an Egyptian embalmer.
