With Health Insurance being such a huge expense for self employed people who don’t have any coverage from a spouses job, etc. What about NACHI looking into A Health Insurance Plane for its members so that we may possibly get a great rate from group coverage. My wife and I are scrambling right now to try an find some affordable insurance since she got laid off of her job. Any thoughts on this subject?

Brad,

Member or not, WELCOME to the forum!

Excellent idea. One of yet a thousand or so for Mr. Gromicko to put in queue. Seriously, Nick, this would be an excellent one...

In the mean time, Brad, look at what FREA may offer to its members...

Hi Guys,

This is a really good topic, I have been looking for some time at the mine field of ALL insurances that we have to pay, both personally and professionally. surely with the number of members that we have we should be able to do a group deal on heath, medical, liability, E&O etc. I have a good friend who is a specialist in re-insurance up here in Boston. I keep meaning to take an ins 101 with him one night to see what ideas he has. This post has reminded me to get my finger out and see what is out there.

I will do some research and post again on this next week.

Regards

Gerry

Ok,

If I check into health insurance through NACHI for everyone. What kind of plans would interest you. Eye? Dental? Major medical? HMO's, Personal choice type plans....give me some ideas what you are interested in.

Hi Joe, I don’t know much about insurance, only that a good chunk of income gets spent on it. I would guess that an HMO type would be the most affordable. Is’nt that what most companies offer to their employees?

Anyway I would think an insurance broker should be able to lead you in the right direction.

Yes, today I got a proposal to provide optional BC health, dental, and eye policy to our association from Jim Pitts at USI Colburn Insurance Service. I'll call him tomorrow and see if we can get digitally to post for all of us to review.

Nick,

Ohhh my god. Finally, I get to look into another health insurance plan. I can't wait to see what we can do in order to purchase an affordable family plan.
Everyone needs coverage and the insurance companies know that. That's why the rates are out the door. Health insurance costs are more like paying an additional mortgage payment. I would be so happy to see a great plan that we could all afford.

Great thought Brad.
Go get em' Nick.

Nick,

Have you heard back from Jim Pitts yet? I'm sure we'll get alot of interested parties involved in this plan. We all need a better health plan.
My existing plan costs me an arm, a leg and for fingers. ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)

Just wandering if you had gotten any more information yet. I really appreciate icon_lol.gif all the work NACHI does to help us. Keep up the good work.

Update:

I've been meeting with many insurance companies on issues ranging from fraud to Canadian E&O to Group Health Insurance. We are going to have to run a few surveys for 2 of these companies which I think I can get Chris to post online and collect the data via this site.

Working on it.

Excellent job, Nick.

INSURANCE...This is one benefit we could all use. Our industry is all about E&O insurance and health coverage. We need to cover ourselves and our families at affordable rates.
There must be insurance companies out there that would jump at this opportunity. They have nothing to lose and will be getting prospects everyday from NACHI members. We definitely need a reputable insurance company that can handle all our insurance needs.

I met in person with Fritz Seifert of Americana Insurance (a national company). He will soon be proposing discounted health and E&O insurance for NACHI members. His contact info has been added to http://www.nachi.org/insurance.htm
