Wishing everyone a Happy Labor Day!
Happy Labor Day!
Have a great day,
I noticed some ice under the bottom shelf of our deep freeze last week, so I knew it was coming. Friday I went to refill the ice in my water jug and the cubes were still not frozen from over night. So dug up my steamer and found it corroded beyond use or repair. Ordered a new tankless steamer (first time seeing this) and gave it a try. The thing ROCKS, removed all the ice from the deep freeze and the drain and got her back up and running in record time. In the process of emptying the freezer we found a pack of vac-sealed brisket burgers from 2021 Labor Day Sale…
So today we finished thawing them out (normally fire the smoker or at least the grill on Labor Day, but weather here is not cooperating) and cooked them in the air fryer. Between the brisket burger, multiple seasonings, horseradish cheddar, vermont cheddar, blue cheese garlic butter, tomato and mayo. One of the best burgers I’ve made in years, a symphony of flavors. Enjoy the rest of your day!
Yesterday, we had a power outage for about 4 hours. During the outage I noticed water dripping from one of my freezers in the garage. I knew it needed defrosted so I didnt think much of it until I realized it was still dripping well after the power came back on. Needless to say, some things were thawed out. My guess is it quit working a few days ago. Luckily I found a larger freezer on sale at Lowes for darn near 50% off and it is getting delivered in the morning. Everything that was in my very old (30+ years) freezer is now packed in coolers with a bunch of dry ice.
While moving things into the coolers, I found some pretty old stuff too. I vacuum seal everything that goes in there so… My wife was surprised at some of the things I found. I thinking about making an inventory sheet to keep track of stuff now. Luckily my 15 year old chest freezer is still going strong. Hopefully it won’t die on me anytime soon.
Happy Labor Day everyone!!
I bought our full size standup freezer for $100(?) about 10 years ago, it was unplugged when I bought it and was in a house from the 70’s - 80’s (snowbird house), obviously an older freezer. Plugged it in for about 2 minutes, OK it runs. Brought home worked great until it stopped working in 2020 during the peak of the plandemic, my first thought was to buy a new one. Well that was not happening due to supply chain issues, so we called a repair guy. We did the dry ice and cooler trick too. He showed up a day later with his mask on and I informed him he doesn’t need to wear that in our house. He ripped it off like those 2nd graders that were told they don’t have to wear the masks anymore in the classroom. We hit it off and he showed me exactly why it had failed and how to fix it (also general operation of the whole system). Came in real handy this time as it was the exact same problem… drain clogged/frozen… condensate overflowed causing reduced air flow, frozen coils.
The tankless steamer was awesome, even better than my old Wagner tank.
Happy Labor Day, my fellow proletariat! Eat the rich, as well as your burgers!
I’m not following, what is a tankless steamer?
I’m assuming it’s a portable handheld steam generator used to clean and defrost frozen over, hvac and refrigerant coils.
Exactly^^
It was advertised as a cleaning tool but worked fantastic for the ice removal. It creates almost instant steam (within a few seconds), no wait times to add more water (or cleaner) to the reservoir.
Here’s the one I bought. I have a few more projects to complete as time permits and will have more experience with it after that.

haha makes sense. Your post made it seem like it was a part for the freezer.
Happy Labor Day!
