Session #1** is ****“Law and Disorder” ****(protection from meritless claims & reducing risk) PLUS ****“Reputation Management”

The Chapter is proud to have Joe Ferry
(“The Home Inspector Lawyer”)**from Philadelphia as our Guest Speaker. **Joe **has responded to over 1,000 claims during the last decade as the preeminent attorney in the home inspection industry. His mission is to educate and advocate on your behalf against clients looking for someone to blame for their own misfortune OR throw the inspector under the bus.

 1. Law and Disorder Seminar, informs and engages inspectors in a presentation that details how to minimize risk and maximize protection from meritless claims.

 2. To the ever-growing list of issues that home inspectors have to contend with, they must now add reputation management. In this digital age, there is no shortage of outlets for unhappy clients, sellers or agents to vent their anger with the home inspector like the Better Business Bureau, Yelp, Angie’s List, Google. Some folks have gone onto home inspectors Facebook pages and left complaints and negative feedback.

These false complaints can be very harmful to an inspectors business. In the reputation management in the digital ageseminar, inspectors will learn that they do not have to put up with these slanders and exactly what they can to do have these lies removed.

Session #2:** “Specialty Roofing Materials” **(Metal, EPDM, TPO, Membranes and Standing Seam Architectural Metal)

We have our own **Stacey Van Houtan **as our speaker for this session. For those of you that don’t know **Stacey, **before he became a home inspector and remodeler … He was the Director of Building Services for the Midwest YMCA AND the VP of Construction for the Hollywood Video Group on the west coast.

He has also been the Cedar Shake & Shingle Bureau’s Expert Witness in the KC area settling disputes between roofer and homeowners.
Stacey has been a speaker on Specialty and Commercial Type Roofing Products for InterNACHI, **ASHI **and NAHI at Annual Educational Seminars.around the country. He also does Expert Witness on roofing issues in the Kansas City area.

Stacey will discuss many of the varied specialty roofing products we could see doing a home OR light commercial inspection. This is a great class to increase or to refresh your knowledge about inspecting roofs, flashing, ventilation, proper installation methods, how to meet the minimum inspection SoPof our associations AND how to report on them.

We will have a Q & A session to wrap things up towards the end…You don’t want to miss it!
