The reason he hasn’t found any evidence is because he hasn’t participated as Russ mentioned. I couldn’t disagree with this guy more. The fact is he doesn’t have the library of information which is NACHI CE and the NACHI members at his fingertips. Your potential for improvement is directly proportional to the resources you can access and without NACHI, his resources can’t be much to brag about.
I have improved every year as an inspector, but joining NACHI increased the rate of that improvement tenfold. I will kick myself for the rest of my career for the mistake I made in not joining NACHI for the first 7 years as an inspector. I see now that it would have been an investment which paid for itself in one or two months and returned an enormous profit from then on. I focused on tools, insurance, marketing materials, reporting choices; as far as I’m concerned now, NACHI should have been at the top of that list.
I don’t even know what he is referring to with “conflict of interests”, but his last comment about the savings he is able to pass on to clients is ironic and sad. The fact is, for the cost of one inspection, he could be saving his clients thousands in defects he is made aware of by networking on just the NACHI forum alone. He would also be getting ancillary inspections from businesses which search InterNACHI for inspectors throughout the country to provide their subcontracted services. He may not be an idiot, but he is definitely ignorant.
I’m sticking with “Total Idiot.” He says he “passes the savings (by not paying membership dues) onto his clients.” What’s that like $1.50 per client to be a member of InterNACHI? So his clients are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a house, but by hiring this total idiot, his clients save $1.50? He really is a total idiot.
Agreed on all points Nick! Defamation is a very big deal and Education is the reason I am proud to be here. Total Idiot is anyone that thinks they can succeed without it.
