How about a structural quiz?

an overhang on the floor framing. Would be way beyond any allowable floor cantilever (e.g. IRC R502.3.3 which would limit even 2x12@16 to a maximum 3’-0" cantilever for one story only and light snow load). Maybe it’s the pic angle, but it seems like the overhang portion is sagging even with those hack braces … go figure … icon_rolleyes.gif

Where are the columns? ...

I’ll wait and see how many can figure this one out

before I tell the story. The blocks could be a clue.

Robert,

Actually the floor joists are not deflected..just an optical conclusion.

I first did an inspection on this back in June 2003 and I advised the

buyer that in his best interest(couldn't talk him out of buying)stubborn

friend of mine, that he should have it leveled. So he says he knows this

guy that can do anything. While one crew dug out for an addition to the

basement, another crew went ahead and framed?????the addition

between the house and garage.I went back in Oct.2003 and very
surprised to find hardly anything wrong. They revamped the entire structure. Here is the finished product...Go Figure!!!!![](upload://g6hExAG6gombvsqqThI5UOtEK1J.jpeg)ps don't know why the siding looks like that but it is actually double 4 installed correctly.
